Import duty from China to the United States

The duty is a stack, not one rate. Start with the base HTS line, then check whether Section 301 adds a China-only duty, then check whether an anti-dumping or countervailing case covers the product.

Sourzi can show the first and the third for the files it holds. It will not invent the Section 301 percent. That number changes by 10-digit code and by USTR notice. Read it on the official schedule before the quote goes out.

The four lines on a China entry

  1. Base duty. The USITC Harmonized Tariff Schedule rate for the 10-digit code. For chemical chapters 28 to 39, the duty check uses the extract imported on 25 September 2026. Free and a plain percent can be turned into dollars from a customs value you type. A compound rate such as cents per kilo stays as text.
  2. Section 301. An extra duty on many goods made in China. It is not in the Sourzi file. Open hts.usitc.gov for the line and the USTR Section 301 page for the China measure.
  3. Anti-dumping and countervailing duty. Only if a case covers that product from China. The duty check lists matching cases from the file and links the ACCESS register. The cash-deposit rate is not stored.
  4. CBP fees. A merchandise processing fee, and a harbor maintenance fee on ocean shipments, can apply. The formal-entry schedule for fiscal year 2026 is on the CBP entry fee quote. That page does not price duty or Section 301. The official table is the CBP user fee table.

What to type

Use the code on the commercial invoice. Four digits is enough to find a heading. Ten digits is the line Customs will assess. If the Chinese supplier's code and the US code differ after the first six digits, do not assume they are the same classification.

The same code into Australia is a different page: import duty from China to Australia.

Frequently asked

What duties apply when I import from China into the United States?

A US entry from China can stack more than one charge: the base HTS duty, an extra Section 301 duty if that exact code is covered, an anti-dumping or countervailing duty if a case covers the product, plus CBP user fees. Sourzi shows the base chemical line and any China case in its files. It does not store the Section 301 percent.

Does Sourzi calculate the Section 301 rate?

No. The US file on this site is the USITC extract for chapters 28 to 39, imported 25 September 2026. Where that extract says Free or a plain percent, the duty check can multiply it by a customs value you type. Section 301 is a separate list. Read it on hts.usitc.gov and on the USTR Section 301 page before you quote.

Which products can I check here?

The base-rate file covers chemical chapters 28 to 39. A code outside those chapters still checks the China anti-dumping case file, and the page tells you the base line is not in the extract. Classification stays with you and your broker.

Want a real price from a checked factory?

Tell us the chemical, grade and quantity. A person on our team in Shanghai sends you a real, checked factory, and your first one is free.

Sourzi shows what official files say. It is not customs or legal advice. For a binding answer, ask a licensed customs broker, a CBP ruling or an Australian Border Force Tariff Advice.
