Import duty from China to Australia
ChAFTA does not make the shipment duty-free by itself. The goods have to qualify, and you need the certificate of origin. The rate on the day of entry is the ABF working tariff.
Sourzi shows the Australian row it holds, whether that row lists ChAFTA, whether GST applies, and any China anti-dumping measure in the file. Where the file says to verify the working tariff, it will not turn your customs value into a duty dollar.

- Customs duty. The general rate, or a ChAFTA rate if the origin test is met and the certificate is in hand. The file imported on 16 May 2026 stores a numeric zero on some headings and a verify-the-tariff note on the rest. It does not store a blanket 5 percent or a blanket zero.
- GST. 10 percent of the value of a taxable importation: customs value, plus duty, plus international transport and insurance. A GST-registered business may be able to claim that GST back. The duty check only shows the GST flag on the row.
- Anti-dumping. A separate measure on some Chinese goods, charged by exporter. The cash-deposit rate is on the Anti-Dumping Commission register, not in this file.
The same product into the United States is a different stack: import duty from China to the United States.
Citric acid is one China measure the Australia file actually lists. The row names HS 2918.14 and 2918.15 and does not store a cash-deposit percent. The answer is on Australia duty on citric acid from China.
Aluminium extrusions are another. The China row names HS 7604.10, 7604.21, and 7604.29 and does not store a cash-deposit percent. The answer is on Australia duty on aluminium extrusions from China.
What people get wrong
They tick ChAFTA because the supplier is Chinese. Origin follows the rule for that HS code, not the address on the invoice. A blend or a repack of foreign goods can fail the rule even when the plant is in China.
They also quote a landed cost with a duty percent this site does not store. Use the duty check to see the row, then read the ABF working tariff before the number goes into a quote.
Frequently asked
Is duty from China to Australia zero under ChAFTA?
Not automatically. ChAFTA can lower the duty only when the goods qualify as originating and the importer holds the certificate of origin. The Australia file lists whether ChAFTA appears on a heading. It does not store the preferential percent. Read the rate on the ABF working tariff.
What else is added at the Australian border?
On a taxable importation, GST is 10 percent of the customs value plus duty plus international transport and insurance to Australia. Some headings also have an anti-dumping measure. The duty check shows the GST flag and any China measure in the file. It does not store the cash-deposit rate.
Which code should I use?
The Australian tariff row, not the Chinese export code, is what ABF assesses. The first six digits are shared. The rest can differ. The duty check searches the Australia file Sourzi holds and tells you when a row is only a note to verify the working tariff.
