Know what the park makes, who runs the lines, and how the cargo gets to the port.

Pengzhou Petrochemical is the only major modern integrated petchem complex in southwestern China, anchored by PetroChina Sichuan Petrochemical's 10 Mt/yr crude refinery and 1 Mt/yr ethylene cracker (commissioned 2014). The park supplies the inland southwestern Chinese market (Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Yunnan combined population over 200 million) with polyolefins, aromatics, and specialty chemistry that previously had to be transported from coastal complexes. The Sichuan crude-feedstock supply runs via the Lanzhou-Chengdu pipeline plus rail-freighted imported crude; the Pengzhou complex is structurally a downstream-of-crude inland refinery, and its profitability is sensitive to the differential between coastal and inland fuel prices. Two operator-distinct points. First, the Yangtze barge access via Chongqing Cuntan Port is the only export pathway; Pengzhou-to-Shanghai barge takes about 7 days and the Yangtze cold-season low-water constraint applies. Second, the Sichuan Basin natural-gas resources have driven adjacent gas-to-chemicals investment (methanol, ammonia, urea, formaldehyde) that creates a complementary inland chemistry cluster around Pengzhou.
