Caofeidian is the newest and most ambitious coastal industrial park in northern China, built on land reclaimed from the Bohai Bay. The park has 400,000 DWT VLCC port capability (among the deepest in China) and was positioned as the future supply hub for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei industrial agglomeration plus North-China-bound petchem exports. Sinopec Caofeidian's 15 Mt/yr refinery (commissioning 2024-2025) and the LNG terminal anchor the next-decade growth story. Two operator-distinct points. First, the deep-water port advantage matters; Caofeidian can accept fully-laden VLCCs without the Bohai Bay channel-dredging that constrains Tianjin and Yantai. Second, the rail connection to Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei consumer markets (within 200 km of Beijing) makes Caofeidian the natural logistics hub for North China end-customers. Watch the regulatory environment: Hebei province has the strictest air-quality regime in China (Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei joint pollution control), and Caofeidian operates under tighter MEE inspection than most coastal parks. The park is positioned as the post-Tianjin-explosion replacement for the North China bulk petchem supply gateway.
