Maoming is the southern Sinopec refining anchor and the supply gateway for Guangdong, Hainan, and Guangxi market chemistry. Sinopec Maoming Petrochemical's 23 Mt/yr crude refining capacity makes it the largest single-site Sinopec refinery in southern China; the integrated ethylene cracker plus polyolefin complex feeds the Pearl River Delta packaging, automotive, and consumer-goods markets. The synthetic-detergent and lubricant-additive clusters at Maoming are the secondary high-margin lanes; the city has the largest synthetic-detergent capacity in China and is the export-gateway for SE-Asia-bound surfactant chemistry. Two operator-distinct points. First, Maoming is upstream of Zhanjiang in the Guangdong refining cluster; the two cities together carry roughly 40 Mt/yr crude refining capacity and dominate southern Chinese petrochemical supply. Second, the Bohe Port adjacency enables direct VLCC crude imports and bulk-chemical exports without the Pearl River congestion that affects Guangzhou-area shipments.
