Jiaxing Port Petrochemical is a mid-tier Hangzhou-Bay coastal petchem cluster, complementary to the larger Ningbo NPEDZ (the existing seed park) and Zhoushan Yushan / Daxie complexes. Sinopec Jiaxing's 5 Mt/yr crude refinery and the Pinghu chlor-alkali / specialty-chemistry plants supply the Zhejiang inland market plus Hangzhou Bay export consignments. The park's Hangzhou Bay positioning between Shanghai (120 km) and Ningbo (80 km) gives it triangulation advantages for chemical-tanker logistics: cargo can route via either Shanghai Yangshan or Ningbo-Zhoushan depending on freight-rate availability and port congestion. Two operator-distinct points. First, the Hangzhou Bay water-chemistry constraint (the bay is shallower than open-coast ports) limits Pinghu Port to 100,000 DWT vessels, which means VLCC-laden crude must be lightered or routed via Ningbo first. Second, the park is positioned as a logistics-and-trans-shipment node rather than a feedstock-to-final-product integrated complex; sourcing from Jiaxing typically means commodity-petchem grades from Sinopec Jiaxing or trans-shipped Hangzhou Bay regional product.
