Which GHS revision does the draft output align to?

The skeleton is formatted to the highest-common-denominator structure that works across OSHA HCS 2024 (GHS Rev 7), EU CLP per Reg (EU) 2023/707 (GHS Rev 9), and the latest UN GHS Rev 10. The hazard statements, precautionary statements, and pictograms are GHS Rev 7-aligned by default and the generator surfaces a warning when a downstream jurisdiction needs Rev 9 or Rev 10 wording. Your regulatory team picks the final pinning before publication.

Can the output be used as a finished SDS?

No. The draft is a starting template. A finished SDS requires regulatory-team review for accuracy against the substance toxicology data, jurisdiction-specific authoring conventions (REACH SDS author obligations, OSHA HCS 2024 author obligations), local-language translation per ECHA Q&A on REACH Article 31, and signature in Section 16. The generator builds the skeleton; the publication is a regulatory process.

Does the generator handle mixtures?

The dataset supports pure substances and simple mixtures (a primary chemical plus minor solvent or impurities). For complex mixtures with multiple hazardous components above the GHS classification cut-off, the generator surfaces the multi-component Section 3 framework but the bridging principle calculations for the mixture classification under GHS Annex 9 sit with the regulatory team.

Does it support the OSHA HCS 2024 update?

Yes. OSHA HCS 2024 (the final rule published 20 May 2024 aligning US SDS structure to GHS Rev 7 with a phase-in to 19 January 2026 for manufacturers and importers, 19 July 2026 for distributors) is the US default. EU CLP per Reg (EU) 2023/707 (in force from 1 December 2023, transitional provisions to 1 May 2025) is the EU default. The generator flags the GHS revision pinning at the top of every section.

Does the tool store my draft anywhere?

No. The generator runs in-browser; the substance frontmatter and the generated SDS are not transmitted off your device. Close the tab and the draft is gone. For storage, export the draft document and route it through your internal regulatory SharePoint or document-management system.

A worked example

The booking. A buyer asks for the SDS before they will open a PO. You do not have one drafted, so you are tempted to grab a generic SDS off another supplier's site and swap the names.

The failure. That is the trap. A borrowed SDS carries the wrong hazard classification, the wrong exposure limits, and the wrong transport block for your actual grade, and when the buyer's EHS team or customs cross-checks Section 14 against the cargo, the mismatch reads as negligence or misdeclaration. The PO stalls on the document that was meant to unblock it.

The fix. Generate the 16-section skeleton here with your product details and the correct GHS structure, then have a qualified regulatory person fill the substance-specific hazard, first-aid, exposure, and transport sections. The buyer gets a properly structured SDS for your grade, not someone else's.

What this tool does and does not do

Does not: Provide substance-specific hazard data (Section 2 hazard classification, Section 4 first aid, Section 8 exposure limits, Section 11 toxicology, Section 12 ecotoxicology, Section 14 transport details).
