GHS · Draft Generator

SDS draft generator

Fill in the substance frontmatter below and the tool builds a 16-section Safety Data Sheet skeleton formatted to current GHS, EU CLP, and OSHA HCS 2024 conventions.

This is a draft skeleton, not a finished SDS. Your regulatory team verifies and completes every section against the current GHS revision before use.

A worked example

The booking. A buyer asks for the SDS before they will open a PO. You do not have one drafted, so you are tempted to grab a generic SDS off another supplier's site and swap the names.

The failure. That is the trap. A borrowed SDS carries the wrong hazard classification, the wrong exposure limits, and the wrong transport block for your actual grade, and when the buyer's EHS team or customs cross-checks Section 14 against the cargo, the mismatch reads as negligence or misdeclaration. The PO stalls on the document that was meant to unblock it.

The fix. Generate the 16-section skeleton here with your product details and the correct GHS structure, then have a qualified regulatory person fill the substance-specific hazard, first-aid, exposure, and transport sections. The buyer gets a properly structured SDS for your grade, not someone else's.

Section 14 transport details come straight from the UN entry; the DG classifier returns them at /tools/dg-classifier. For the cross-jurisdiction inventory references in Section 15, the regulatory matrix is at /regulatory.

What this tool does and does not do

Does: Produce a 16-section SDS skeleton with the standard GHS section structure, the reference frontmatter populated from your input, and the placeholder labels for jurisdiction-specific regulatory references (TSCA / REACH / IECSC / AICIS / GB/T 17519). Useful as a starting template.

Does not: Provide substance-specific hazard data (Section 2 hazard classification, Section 4 first aid, Section 8 exposure limits, Section 11 toxicology, Section 12 ecotoxicology, Section 14 transport details). Provide regulatory advice. Generate an SDS that is ready to ship with a chemical cargo. Replace the work of a qualified regulatory professional.
